From sculptural silhouettes to elevated minimalism, these red carpet trends set the tone for fashion in 2026.

Is “elegant grandma” the vibe for 2026?

Aside from Nikki Glasser’s daring jokes and unnecessarily long acceptance speeches, the 2026 Golden Globes also introduced some of the hottest fashion trends this year. Overall, the general theme leaned toward something quieter, more refined, and decidedly more timeless. We’re calling it “elegant grandma.”
Throughout the night, in particular, we saw vintage silhouettes, high necklines, and embellished beading. Selena Gomez appears here in a stunning black Chanel evening gown with a feather off the shoulder neckline. Paired with a vintage Hollywood bob with the large crystal jewels, makes for an elevated, almost regal, look. Kate Hudson wore a 1970’s Giorgio Armani Prive Gown. Throughout the night, this nod to old-Hollywood glamour appeared repeatedly on the red carpet. There is clearly a movement towards elegance that feels timeless, intentional, and quietly powerful.
Are Collarbones the Newest Statement?

Again, the collarbones did the talking, not the jewelry. Here, Tessa Thompson appears in a custom Balenciaga gown designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli. The look is backless, fully covered in sequins, and plays with an “is it green or tan?” color effect.
In this look, restraint takes center stage. Though, covered in sequins, the simplicity of the neckline allows for a restrained look. Despite the heavy embellishment, the absence of statement jewelry instead allows the silhouette and neckline to take center stage.
The result of this is an elevated, dramatic look. Proof that even sparkle can be elegant when paired with thoughtful minimalism. It’s a perfect example of why fashion trends for 2026 will certainly be geared more towards intentional design and less about excess. Possibly even incorporating the collarbones or back to leave a mysterious element.
Sculptural Simplicity

Another consistent theme at the 2026 Golden Globes was the prevalence of modern, sculptural silhouettes. In Ayo Edebiri’s Chanel look, we see a seamless blend of old-Hollywood glamour and contemporary structure. The gown’s architectural construction gives the look a polished, intentional finish.
In Emma Stone’s two piece Louis Vuitton set in butter yellow (a color poised to define 2026) the sharp angles and structure of the top are softened by the fluid, lightweight look to the skirt. The contrast creates a balance, while reinforcing the sculptural theme we saw throughout the night.
Finally, our favorite look of the night goes to Emily Blunt. Her look perfectly encapsulated the trend predictions we saw across the red carpet. This Louis Vuitton gown balanced “elegant grandma” chic with a distinctly modern edge. The look paired timeless refinement with a sculptural, fashion-forward silhouette.
